Adjustable Dumbbell Update for Deposit Holders

This is the update we emailed on September 30, 2026 to everyone who placed a deposit on the Adjustable Dumbbell. We're posting it here too, so nobody misses it.

The first round of the Adjustable Dumbbell has officially sold out. If you placed a deposit, congratulations, you'll be one of the very first people to receive it!

Here's the short version:

Ship date: aiming for the end of January
Drop warranty: accidental drops up to 1 m are covered from 7.5 kg and up
Your balance: we'll email you one week before public pre-orders open

Ship date

We're aiming to ship by the end of January. There's a chance this moves into February, depending on the speed and quality of our production. As soon as we have exact dates, we'll share them with you.

Drop testing

We just finished a pilot run of 50 pairs and put them through extensive drop and cycle testing. That process showed us a few small improvements to make to the handle before mass production starts. Here are the results of our drop testing:

At the lightest setting, 5 kg, the dumbbell should not be dropped. From 7.5 kg and up, it handles drops well.
Flat drops at any weight from 7.5 kg up to 55 kg are practically always fine.
Drops at a 45° angle are a bit harder on the structure, but the dumbbell still holds up well. In our testing, it took 39 drops at 45° before we saw any damage, and we were able to repair it with replacement parts.

These dumbbells are built for real training, and an accidental drop now and then is part of that. What they aren't built for is being dropped over and over. Over time, repeated drops make the dumbbell harder to adjust and can eventually damage it.

Drop warranty

As you know, these dumbbells are covered by our lifetime warranty, which covers manufacturing defects as well as drops. We're still finalizing the exact terms, but here's an example of the drop warranty we're planning:

Accidental drops from up to 1 m during normal use are fully covered at any setting from 7.5 kg and up. Drops at the lightest 5 kg setting aren't covered. If your dumbbells are ever damaged, just send us photos and/or videos and tell us what happened. The damage shows us exactly how a dumbbell was dropped, so we can always tell normal use apart from intentional drops. Intentional drop testing or dropping them on purpose voids the warranty.

These dumbbells are easily repairable. If they're damaged in normal use, we'll send you a replacement part, or a replacement handle if it can't be repaired.

Pre-orders and your remaining balance

We expect full pre-orders to open at the end of October or in early November, and we'll have a confirmed ship date by then.

One week before public pre-orders open, we'll email you. You'll have that week to pay the rest of your order. Your remaining balance is the price of your setup on our website, minus the deposit you've already paid. If it isn't paid by then, your deposit is refunded and your spot goes to the next person on the waitlist.

Missed the first round?

The first round is sold out. But there may be one final chance to get in.

Everyone who placed a deposit will have one week to pay the rest of their order. If anyone doesn't claim their spot in that week, we'll open those spots to the waitlist. That should happen around the end of October.

Final units

The tolerances have improved compared to the unit we showed at Home Gym Con, and so has the general fit and finish. We're aiming to get final units to reviewers at the end of October, so keep an eye out for full reviews.
